Over ons

The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation

We are a foundation that, together with a team of enthusiastic volunteers, offers help to vulnerable puppies from abroad to receive them and place them in the Netherlands. The foundation was created out of pure love for dogs. Unfortunately, many dogs from abroad have a miserable life. They are shot at, poisoned and left for dead. The dogs are found in meadows, along roads and railways or have been put out on the street. Sometimes they are even put over the fence of our animal rescuers there.

Our foundation saves these puppies.

Together with our volunteers, we will take them to the Netherlands where we will do our best to find them a safe, warm home. Some first go to a host family and

some puppies go straight to their new owners upon arrival. We have screened that owner in advance and we first carefully examined the new home

suitable for our little puppy. If a puppy does not yet have an owner upon arrival, the puppy will temporarily go to an experienced host family. If there is a mother dog present with the puppies, the mother dog always comes to the Netherlands with the puppies. She is placed through another foundation. Unfortunately, it is more common for them to be found without a mother

Why are we different!

Like all big things, we started small. We were a few friends with great ideas and we started. And that has led to something beautiful! We are more than a group of dog lovers. We are a family of like-minded people and we use our passion and what we can to make a real difference. It's easy to do great things when you believe in what you're doing. That's why we help these puppies. Every time again.

After the puppy has been placed, we keep in touch with the new owner, so that we always know how the puppy is doing. We want to provide a safe, warm home for all puppies we rescue! We continue to monitor our placed puppies and are always available for questions or advice regarding adopters. We put adopters in touch with our animal protectors abroad and we work transparently. Our wish is that together we will find more adoption and/or host families where we can offer these sweet, grateful puppies a safe place.

Puppy Rescue Team contact person

I have loved animals all my life! I got my first dog when I was 18 and they have played a big role in my life ever since. Since 2016, I have come into contact with foundations and discovered the widespread animal suffering in other countries. Making a difference always starts with yourself and I decided to do my part for those who need it so much. Since 2017, I have been saving many young, resilient lives together with a fantastic team.

I can say that nothing is more satisfying than helping these extremely vulnerable puppies. Seeing them change from pathetic piles of misery to beautiful, happy, grateful and loyal family members gives a huge boost to continue what we are doing.

Ria Koppens

treasurer

Partly because of my children, I have always had a whole bunch of animals, including bunnies, chickens, cats, hamsters and our dog Benjy. I currently no longer have any pets, but when the need is great I take in puppies so that they can go to their forever home from here.

I also went to Italy to help build new shelters for Anna and Dusan's dogs and puppies. The cordiality and warmth you get from those people there is heart-warming. They try so hard to save all the stray dogs and live completely for the dogs around them.

Akke van Hettema

Secretary

I am the proud owner of 4 dogs and have been with Puppy Rescue Team since the beginning. In addition to my job as secretary, I also drive across the country to collect donations for our rescue pups. I have also made the long journey to Italy several times to help at our shelter L 'Oasi di Carla. There is so much dog suffering there and every time you hope to be able to make just that little bit of difference for them. When you bring the puppies to the Netherlands and you see all those happy, enthusiastic new owners, you know what you are doing it all for. Nothing is more beautiful than being able to experience that.

Dog behaviorist

Hello, my name is Lotte van Hassent from Dog Tailes. I have been crazy about dogs all my life and I soon knew that I wanted to make that my job later. Dog Tailes provides the ultimate help for you and your dog. I want to teach people how to handle their dogs and give advice. Are you no longer sure what to do with your dog's problem behavior or are you looking for fun, educational and enjoyable training? From young to old, from small to large and from easy to difficult, I am here for you and your dog! Together with you we make life easier for people and dogs!

What do we need to achieve this:

Adopt

If you would like to adopt one of our puppies you can find them on our website with the current offer.

Host families

It has been found that puppies that are already in the Netherlands are adopted more quickly. If you would like to temporarily care for a puppy, but do not want to adopt a puppy yourself, then this is a unique opportunity for you and the puppy. It is important that you are at home a lot and have some experience with puppies.

Donors

We have no profit motive. However, we need money to financially support animal rights activists in both countries. After all, they take care of the puppies, mother dogs and other stray dogs all the time. They also ensure the sterilization of the mother dog and any other stray dogs.

You can donate from € 1.95 per month via NL72ABNA0822326949

Policy plan

2023

Puppy Rescue Team Foundation

is a non-profit organization that aims to help stray dogs abroad lead a dignified life. We do this selflessly and on a voluntary basis. The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation consists exclusively of volunteers.

Puppy Rescue Team Foundation

was officially founded on March 13, 2018. The foundation stems from an initiative by a group of volunteers, who provided help to an animal rights worker for stray dogs in Craiova, Romania in 2017. The initiative was a great success. In a short time, a large number of dogs have been helped to a better life. The volunteers involved have decided to continue this collaboration. In order to do this structurally and with a greater reach, the Puppy Rescue Team Foundation was founded on March 13, 2018. The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation consists of 5 unpaid board members and a permanent group of (foreign and Dutch) volunteers.

Mission/objectives

Helping stray puppies abroad so that they can lead a dignified life. Reducing the stray puppy population locally by participating in sterilization and information programs. Making people locally aware that humans and (stray) dogs can live well together if humans also take into account the importance of the health and well-being of these dogs.

Provide material and financial assistance

We offer material support by collecting all supplies for the care and shelter of a stray puppy in a shelter abroad. This consists, for example, of food, baskets, warm blankets, collars, crates, travel boxes, food bowls and toys. In short, everything that is usable and is donated to the foundation. We ensure that these goods end up at our reception centers abroad.

We have just finished building new shelters in Italy. We also support with financial resources. We make donations to our contacts abroad so that they can provide and pay for the necessary medical care.

Stray puppy adoptions

We only place puppies in the Netherlands that are healthy, social (towards people and their peers) and that can adapt to being a house dog. This is done in consultation with our contact persons abroad, who first carefully observe the puppy for these behavioral characteristics. The volunteers of the foundation who are involved in the screening of future owners, use an extensive and transparent adoption procedure to find the right match for a puppy from abroad. Of course, we fully follow the EU guidelines for bringing puppies from abroad to the Netherlands. This means that we meet EU requirements with regard to transport, health declaration, blood tests, vaccinations, chip and passport. The puppy placed in the Netherlands is followed by the foundation for up to six months after adoption. A volunteer who has specifically taken on this task, our aftercare coordinator, contacts the adopters twice (two weeks and another six months after adoption). In these conversations, the aftercare coordinator ensures that the puppy has ended up in the right place according to the foundation's standards and is also being treated well according to the foundation's standards. Good treatment according to the foundation's standards is described in the adoption contract with the adopter. The adopter can always rely on the foundation for advice on (medical) care and upbringing. If a puppy cannot stay with the adopter due to unforeseen circumstances, the foundation will support the search for a new home.

Target audiences

Our target groups consist of people who want to adopt a dog from abroad, people and organizations that want to work with us to ensure a dignified living situation for stray dogs abroad, and people who want more information about the stray dog problem abroad and its solution.

Recruitment of financial resources

The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation is a non-profit organization, run by volunteers. Our financial resources come from: Adoption expense reimbursement of the puppies that are placed in the Netherlands. Occasional and periodic donations. Collection campaigns for sales at flea markets, etc. Sponsorship of (sterilization) projects.

Manage financial resources

The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation manages income and expenditure through its own ABNAMRO bank account. All board members can view the bank account and income and expenditure. The treasurer has been appointed by the board by proxy as the sole authorized representative to make payments through this account. The treasurer is accountable for this in the board meetings. The board members and volunteers do not receive a salary or compensation and the foundation is not a profit-making organization. All income is used to implement the stated objectives. An amount is reserved each budget year to cover unforeseen events.

The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation is a non-profit organization.

PRT belongs to the Public Benefit Organizations (ANBI status). Proceeds from assignments, donations and donations are spent on achieving the objectives.

Remuneration policy

The Puppy Rescue Team Foundation is a non-profit organization. We do not receive any subsidies but are completely dependent on gifts and donations. For the puppies that we place in the Netherlands, we ask the new owners for a contribution towards the expenses incurred to provide the puppies with (medical) care in the country of origin and the transport costs to the Netherlands. Board members and volunteers do not receive a salary or compensation for their activities. Work carried out by the board for the Puppy Rescue Team Foundation is all on a voluntary basis and there is therefore NO financial reward in return. Any expenses such as fuel are paid by the drivers themselves.

Accountability for expenditure of financial resources

We justify our income and expenditure for the year in question in an annual overview. We place these financial reports on our website www.puppy-rescue-team.nl
